While many people think this essential oil is only really good for adding some spice to your cooking (which it IS good at) – there’s so much more to this little bottle of oregano!
Oregano is one of the most potent and powerful essential oils, having been used for centuries in holistic medicine. Because it is so potent (if you smell a bottle, you’ll understand what I’m talking about) you only need 1 or 2 drops and if you’re using on your skin – dilute, dilute, dilute!
The best way to dilute oregano is 1 drop per 1 teaspoon of carrier oil (such as fractionated coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, etc). This should be safe to use on all ages, but you definitely want to be careful with this oil as it is hot and may affect sensitive skin even more (it won’t hurt to dilute it further!).
Oregano essential oil is one of the most powerful antibacterial essential oils because it contains carvacrol and thymol, two antibacterial and antifungal compounds. Research has actually shown oregano essential oils to be effective against many clinical strains of bacteria, including Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa – that’s pretty crazy!
These anti-bacterial properties are why it may support your body in kicking your sore throat to the curb (while avoiding a trip to the pharmacy for antibiotics). Grab a bottle of Oregano Touch and roll along your throat as soon as you start to feel the scratchies.
Oregano can also be used in a blend pre or post-surgery. In a roller bottle of your choosing, add equal parts:
– Oregano
– Melaleuca (Tea Tree)
– Helichrysum
– Turmeric
And fill at least 2/3 of the roller bottle with fractionated coconut oil.
